Whatever the challenge, from designing or altering traditional full-length curtains with swags and tails; to creating bespoke and restyled clothing and textiles; and re-upholstering chairs and sofas, the Sewing Rooms is the place to get it done.

Curtain making, soft furnishings and interior design
Our professional bespoke curtain-making service includes a home visit to ensure completely accurate measurements and a huge selection of fabrics from which to choose the perfect one for you! Our workshop also provides bespoke blinds, cushions and other soft furnishings and home accessories.

We also provide the alteration service for Ikea customers who have purchased fabrics and curtains. Please get in touch! We’ll be happy to discuss your requirements and provide you with a quote.

The Sewing Rooms is part of the green revolution making beautiful new products out of previously useless pieces of clothing, textiles and even furniture and white goods, many of which may have been headed for landfill. We gladly accept donations of items, and if you have ideas for ways to upcycle something for yourself, and need a bit of guidance, we are happy to work with to you to help you create something new and unique out of something used and worn.

You can post donations to us or drop them off at our workshop. If you are coming by outside of business hours, we have a textile collection point in our car park.

Upholstery and restoration
If your furniture is looking a bit worse for wear and needs a good clean or a spot of extra care, The Sewing Rooms is the place to come. Our head upholsterer, Phil, has a lifetime of experience and a head full of ideas. After coming across an original Victorian chaise lounge ottoman, Phil and the team said, “We can make these.” And now they do.

We now take orders for single, double, king and super-king ottomans, and we have a new display area in our workshop to give you an idea of the quality of our work.

To attend an upholstery course, please check out Our Academy for more information and dates.
