Forthcoming sewing courses, for everyone from complete beginners to advanced stitchers – all booking is via Eventbrite:

Beginners Sewing Course (maximum 6 participants)
Tuesdays 6-9 pm

April 17, 24 and May 1, 8

Tutor: Laura Dove Content covers using a domestic sewing machine; threading; functions; care and maintenance; seam types; inserting zips; using button hole; and the course will also include making make-up and tote bags; cutting and tracing a commercial pattern; and making soft furnishings including envelope, square and oblong cushions.

Cover your own chair: upholstery (maximum 3 participants)
Wednesdays 10 am-1 pm

Tutor: Tom Hogg Join Tom as you delve into the fabulous world of upholstery. You will leave the course with the confidence and skills to tackle new projects on your own. Bring your own chair.

Curtain making
Wednesdays 6 pm-9 pm

April 18, 28 and May 2, 9

Tutor: Cath Carmichael You will learn how to hem, make lined and unlined curtains and a variety of headings, including ring and tab tops.

Let’s Get Shirty!
Thursdays 6-9 pm

April 12, 18, 26 and May 3

Tutor: Christine Ashton This course is for experienced domestic sewers and will cover pattern cutting and all aspects of garment construction. Participants will need to bring their own fabric.

6.
How to follow a pattern and make a garment
Saturdays 930-1230

April 21, 28 and May 5, 12

Tutor: Michelle Aras The course will cover the basic knowledge and experience of using a sewing machine, including how to follow a commercial pattern and make a garment from scratch if you are going to a wedding or the races and want to make something original. Participants will need to bring their own pattern and fabric.

Make your own roman blind
Saturdays 1 pm – 4 pm

Tutor: Cath Carmichael Participants can choose the size of their blind. Fixtures and fittings for the final item will be an additional cost.
